lapwing
[/ˈlapwɪŋ/] noun
leap with a flicker in it
The Lapwing Estate manages nine farms across Nottinghamshire, North Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire. Spanning over 5,000 acres, the Estate operates at the intersection of agriculture, climate innovation, and rural regeneration.
Our operations include farming with a particular focus on responsible management of lowland peat — some of the UK’s most fertile yet environmentally vulnerable soils. Alongside our farming operations, Lapwing leads on cutting-edge renewable energy projects, including solar, wind and our groundbreaking Reverse Coal Pyrolysis facility.
Lapwing is also home to innovative agri-tech ventures such as Earth Rover, which develops robotic, chemical-free weeding systems as well as Browns at the Buttercross, crafting quality hearty meals from fresh produce.
These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to decarbonising food systems and building energy resilience.
